Hi, I’m Nicole

My Story

My story begins in Wilmington, North Carolina, where growing up near the coast shaped my love for the beach, my appreciation for community, and my sense of curiosity about the world around me. From an early age, I was drawn to activities that allowed me to express creativity and build discipline — including competitive dance, which I pursued for 15 years in ballet, clogging, tap, and jazz. Those experiences taught me the value of teamwork, perseverance, and showing up prepared, lessons that continue to guide me today.

When it came time for college, I moved to Chapel Hill to attend the University of North Carolina, where I discovered my passion for communication and the power it has to connect people, organizations, and communities. What started as an interest in storytelling quickly evolved into a calling to use communication as a tool for impact. I became a proud Double Tar Heel, earning both my Bachelor’s degree in Interpersonal Communication and Environmental Studies and my Master’s degree in Mass Communication with a focus on strategic communication.

Throughout my academic journey and early career, I had the opportunity to work across a variety of industries — from environmental research and corporate marketing to healthcare and community engagement. Each experience helped shape my professional path and reinforced my commitment to work that supports people and strengthens communities. Whether protecting coastal wildlife, building communication strategies for research organizations, coordinating community outreach across multiple municipalities, or supporting philanthropic initiatives in healthcare, my work has always centered on creating meaningful connections and lasting impact.

Along the way, I have also remained committed to leadership and community involvement. Serving in roles such as Public Relations Co-Chair for Emerge Broward and participating in leadership programs like Women Leading Broward allowed me to grow as a communicator, collaborator, and community advocate. These experiences strengthened my belief that strong leadership is rooted in service, relationships, and a willingness to learn from others.

Today, my husband and I are proud to call North Carolina home once again as we build our life together, stay close to family, and continue to grow both personally and professionally. My journey has been shaped by the people, places, and opportunities that have challenged me to step outside my comfort zone, embrace new experiences, and remain grounded in the values that matter most.

Community Involvement & Leadership

Community involvement has always been an important part of my personal and professional journey. I am passionate about supporting organizations that empower individuals, strengthen communities, and create opportunities for leadership development.

Women Leading Broward

Through my involvement in Women Leading Broward, I participated in a leadership development program focused on empowering women to grow professionally, build meaningful networks, and contribute to their communities.

The program provided opportunities to engage with local leaders, strengthen leadership skills, and collaborate with peers across a wide range of industries. These experiences reinforced the importance of mentorship, community service, and continuous professional growth, while also deepening my appreciation for the value of strong, supportive networks.

I am especially grateful that this program came into my life at a time when I needed it most. Having recently moved to South Florida, Women Leading Broward not only introduced me to an inspiring group of women but also helped me build friendships and a sense of belonging in a new community.

Emerge Broward

What started as an opportunity to meet other like-minded young professionals in the South Florida area quickly turned into lifelong friendships and meaningful leadership opportunities.

I joined Emerge Broward as a member, regularly attending monthly meet-and-greets and small group activities. Through these experiences, my network expanded, and I built relationships with individuals who have become lasting friends. After becoming more familiar with the organization and connecting with its members, I was encouraged to apply for a leadership role as Public Relations Co-Chair.

As Public Relations Co-Chair, I helped lead communication and engagement initiatives designed to strengthen member involvement and enhance organizational visibility. In this role, I led my committee members to develop messaging strategies, manage communications, and create resources that supported recruitment, onboarding, and overall program engagement.

This experience strengthened my skills in strategic communication, volunteer leadership, and organizational planning while reinforcing my commitment to community engagement and the importance of building strong professional relationships.
